DESENHA LUZ EXHIBITION

“Desenha luz” ("Draws light”) was an exhibition presenting a set of exercises explorating light and its modulation. It took place in the Fine Arts Faculty on the 30rd of May, 2017. This exhibition was conceived by me and my classmates.

The structure of the exhibition was designed to follow the movement and reflections of lamps light. We built a cardboard structure after many sketches and studies.

The graphic part was handed by me and another classmate. We chose to create a graphic path with the outlining of the lamps. We created posters, a catalog, online invitations, room sheets and many other details.

In this exhibition I decided to exhibit “Má Luz”/ “Bad Light”. For this lamp, I was inspired at first by the shape of the turtles and their movement, something simple but impressive, with the least possible material. When looking at turtles I came across with a shape of  an accordion and from there emerged to the shape you see below. I used fabric, interlining, sewing by hand and at the end I bathed with a mix of white glue and water to get harder. For the socket I made a simple piece of wood where the lamp fitted and was secure with the threads that sew the fabric. (All the materials were going to be wasted if not used for this piece).
